David consulted with the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, with every leader.
Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. And the king went up to the house of the Lord, with all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the priests and the Levites, all the people both great and small. And he read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant that had been found in the house of the Lord.
Then Hezekiah the king rose early and gathered the officials of the city and went up to the house of the Lord.
As he went to Ziklag, these men of Manasseh deserted to him: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, chiefs of thousands in Manasseh.

Of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, 200 chiefs, and all their kinsmen under their command.
These Gadites were officers of the army; the least was a match for a hundred men and the greatest for a thousand.
David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.
