So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Bring me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.”
A woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.”
Then the servant ran to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water to drink from your jar.”
They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated—
in toil and hardship, through many a sleepless night, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure.
When the water in the skin was gone, she put the child under one of the bushes.
