And Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan. Saul swore, “As the Lord lives, he shall not be put to death.”
Whoever hates disguises himself with his lips and harbors deceit in his heart; when he speaks graciously, believe him not, for there are seven abominations in his heart;
Though they say, “As the Lord lives,” yet they swear falsely.
in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but who honors those who fear the Lord; who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
But Saul swore to her by the Lord, “As the Lord lives, no punishment shall come upon you for this thing.”
And Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he eluded Saul, so that he struck the spear into the wall. And David fled and escaped that night. Saul sent messengers to David's house to watch him, that he might kill him in the morning. But Michal, David's wife, told him, “If you do not escape with your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.”
For as the Lord lives who saves Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die.” But there was not a man among all the people who answered him.
