David knew that Saul was plotting harm against him. And he said to Abiathar the priest, “Bring the ephod here.”
And David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought the ephod to David.
When Abiathar the son of Ahimelech had fled to David to Keilah, he had come down with an ephod in his hand.
And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the Lord. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all the people of Israel with him, the whole congregation.”
Now the son of Paul's sister heard of their ambush, so he went and entered the barracks and told Paul. Paul called one of the centurions and said, “Take this young man to the tribune, for he has something to tell him.” So he took him and brought him to the tribune and said, “Paul the prisoner called me and asked me to bring this young man to you, as he has something to say to you.”
they learned of it and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding country,
but their plot became known to Saul. They were watching the gates day and night in order to kill him,
Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
The Lord made it known to me and I knew; then you showed me their deeds. But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter. I did not know it was against me they devised schemes, saying, “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name be remembered no more.”
But one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.
So Saul said to Ahijah, “Bring the ark of God here.” For the ark of God went at that time with the people of Israel.
