When Saul returned from following the Philistines, he was told, “Behold, David is in the wilderness of Engedi.”
So Saul returned from pursuing after David and went against the Philistines. Therefore that place was called the Rock of Escape. And David went up from there and lived in the strongholds of Engedi.
By their evil they make the king glad, and the princes by their treachery.
There are men in you who slander to shed blood, and people in you who eat on the mountains; they commit lewdness in your midst.
If a ruler listens to falsehood, all his officials will be wicked.
take away the wicked from the presence of the king, and his throne will be established in righteousness.
Then the Ziphites went up to Saul at Gibeah, saying, “Is not David hiding among us in the strongholds at Horesh, on the hill of Hachilah, which is south of Jeshimon?
