And he said, “Why does my lord pursue after his servant? For what have I done? What evil is on my hands?
And David said to Saul, “Why do you listen to the words of men who say, ‘Behold, David seeks your harm’?
See, my father, see the corner of your robe in my hand. For by the fact that I cut off the corner of your robe and did not kill you, you may know and see that there is no wrong or treason in my hands. I have not sinned against you, though you hunt my life to take it. May the Lord judge between me and you, may the Lord avenge me against you, but my hand shall not be against you. As the proverb of the ancients says, ‘Out of the wicked comes wickedness.’ But my hand shall not be against you. After whom has the king of Israel come out? After whom do you pursue? After a dead dog! After a flea!
Jesus answered him, “If what I said is wrong, bear witness about the wrong; but if what I said is right, why do you strike me?”
Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?”
Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?
More in number than the hairs of my head are those who hate me without cause; mighty are those who would destroy me, those who attack me with lies. What I did not steal must I now restore?
For without cause they hid their net for me; without cause they dug a pit for my life.
O Lord my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands, if I have repaid my friend with evil or plundered my enemy without cause, let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it, and let him trample my life to the ground and lay my glory in the dust. Selah
And David said, “What have I done now? Was it not but a word?”
