But David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him, for who can put out his hand against the Lord's anointed and be guiltless?”
David said to him, “How is it you were not afraid to put out your hand to destroy the Lord's anointed?”
saying, “Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!”
And David said to him, “Your blood be on your head, for your own mouth has testified against you, saying, ‘I have killed the Lord's anointed.’”
He said to his men, “The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord's anointed, to put out my hand against him, seeing he is the Lord's anointed.” So David persuaded his men with these words and did not permit them to attack Saul. And Saul rose up and left the cave and went on his way.
