Not that we dare to classify or compare ourselves with some of those who are commending themselves. But when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding.
Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips.
Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast about outward appearance and not about what is in the heart.
