And now, behold, I am going to Jerusalem, constrained by the Spirit, not knowing what will happen to me there,
yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died;
since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.
And taking the twelve, he said to them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished. For he will be delivered over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon. And after flogging him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise.”
And coming to us, he took Paul's belt and bound his own feet and hands and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘This is how the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’” When we heard this, we and the people there urged him not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” And since he would not be persuaded, we ceased and said, “Let the will of the Lord be done.”
For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he might not have to spend time in Asia, for he was hastening to be at Jerusalem, if possible, on the day of Pentecost.
Now after these events Paul resolved in the Spirit to pass through Macedonia and Achaia and go to Jerusalem, saying, “After I have been there, I must also see Rome.”
Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw that the city was full of idols.
Then Jesus, knowing all that would happen to him, came forward and said to them, “Whom do you seek?”
I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how great is my distress until it is accomplished!
When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem.
Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
