And when he came to the steps, he was actually carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the crowd,
And when he had given him permission, Paul, standing on the steps, motioned with his hand to the people. And when there was a great hush, he addressed them in the Hebrew language, saying:
O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear? Or cry to you “Violence!” and you will not save? Why do you make me see iniquity, and why do you idly look at wrong? Destruction and violence are before me; strife and contention arise.
For the land is full of adulterers; because of the curse the land mourns, and the pastures of the wilderness are dried up. Their course is evil, and their might is not right.
No, in your hearts you devise wrongs; your hands deal out violence on earth.
Destroy, O Lord, divide their tongues; for I see violence and strife in the city.
