Then I said, “O Lord God, please cease! How can Jacob stand? He is so small!”
Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation toward us!
When they had finished eating the grass of the land, I said, “O Lord God, please forgive! How can Jacob stand? He is so small!” The Lord relented concerning this: “It shall not be,” said the Lord.
Between the vestibule and the altar let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep and say, “Spare your people, O Lord, and make not your heritage a reproach, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”
Out of them shall come songs of thanksgiving, and the voices of those who celebrate. I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will make them honored, and they shall not be small.
For in a very little while my fury will come to an end, and my anger will be directed to their destruction.
If the Lord of hosts had not left us a few survivors, we should have been like Sodom, and become like Gomorrah.
