What is crooked cannot be made straight, and what is lacking cannot be counted.
For the protection of wisdom is like the protection of money, and the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it. Consider the work of God: who can make straight what he has made crooked?
Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain.
I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him.
And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
Who has spoken and it came to pass, unless the Lord has commanded it?
When he is quiet, who can condemn? When he hides his face, who can behold him, whether it be a nation or a man?—
and that he would tell you the secrets of wisdom! For he is manifold in understanding. Know then that God exacts of you less than your guilt deserves.
