And he said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, O Lord, please let the Lord go in the midst of us, for it is a stiff-necked people, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.”
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!
For the Lord will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage;
But the Lord's portion is his people, Jacob his allotted heritage.
For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel as his own possession.
Oh, save your people and bless your heritage! Be their shepherd and carry them forever.
Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people.” And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” And he said to him, “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here. For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth?” And the Lord said to Moses, “This very thing that you have spoken I will do, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.”
Not like these is he who is the portion of Jacob, for he is the one who formed all things, and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance; the Lord of hosts is his name.
And the Lord said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people.
And the Lord will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.”
He gave his people over to the sword and vented his wrath on his heritage.
Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine;
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Because I know that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew and your forehead brass,
For your name's sake, O Lord, pardon my guilt, for it is great.
Please pardon the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of your steadfast love, just as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt until now.”
Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; but I will not go up among you, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.” When the people heard this disastrous word, they mourned, and no one put on his ornaments. For the Lord had said to Moses, “Say to the people of Israel, ‘You are a stiff-necked people; if for a single moment I should go up among you, I would consume you. So now take off your ornaments, that I may know what to do with you.’”
