Then the prophet Hananiah took the yoke-bars from the neck of Jeremiah the prophet and broke them.
Thus the Lord said to me: “Make yourself straps and yoke-bars, and put them on your neck.
“Your words have been hard against me, says the Lord. But you say, ‘How have we spoken against you?’
As Jehudi read three or four columns, the king would cut them off with a knife and throw them into the fire in the fire pot, until the entire scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the fire pot. Yet neither the king nor any of his servants who heard all these words was afraid, nor did they tear their garments.
I will also bring back to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the exiles from Judah who went to Babylon, declares the Lord, for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.”
“Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, “How did the Spirit of the Lord go from me to speak to you?” And Micaiah said, “Behold, you shall see on that day when you go into an inner chamber to hide yourself.”
And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made for himself horns of iron and said, “Thus says the Lord, ‘With these you shall push the Syrians until they are destroyed.’”
