Who has prescribed for him his way, or who can say, ‘You have done wrong’?
“For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
Who has measured the Spirit of the Lord, or what man shows him his counsel? Whom did he consult, and who made him understand? Who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding?
Does God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert the right?
In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,
“For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?”
But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.
“Therefore, hear me, you men of understanding: far be it from God that he should do wickedness, and from the Almighty that he should do wrong.
What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God's part? By no means!
But if our unrighteousness serves to show the righteousness of God, what shall we say? That God is unrighteous to inflict wrath on us? (I speak in a human way.)
Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be in the right?
Who gave him charge over the earth, and who laid on him the whole world? If he should set his heart to it and gather to himself his spirit and his breath, all flesh would perish together, and man would return to dust. “If you have understanding, hear this; listen to what I say. Shall one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty,
