who made the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the chambers of the south;
He who made the Pleiades and Orion, and turns deep darkness into the morning and darkens the day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the surface of the earth, the Lord is his name;
“Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades or loose the cords of Orion? Can you lead forth the Mazzaroth in their season, or can you guide the Bear with its children? Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you establish their rule on the earth? “Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, that a flood of waters may cover you? Can you send forth lightnings, that they may go and say to you, ‘Here we are’?
And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars.
He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names.
And from there we made a circuit and arrived at Rhegium. And after one day a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli.
From your lofty abode you water the mountains; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work.
He lays the beams of his chambers on the waters; he makes the clouds his chariot; he rides on the wings of the wind;
From its chamber comes the whirlwind, and cold from the scattering winds.
