Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.
“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.
But the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me: because all the house of Israel have a hard forehead and a stubborn heart.
persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure;
for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place. A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.

The Jews picked up stones again to stone him.
Who has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who announced beforehand the coming of the Righteous One, whom you have now betrayed and murdered, you who received the law as delivered by angels and did not keep it.” Now when they heard these things they were enraged, and they ground their teeth at him. But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. And he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”
Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where he was, he should let them know, so that they might arrest him.
So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.
The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.
And this was why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath.
