They cried out again, “Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.
The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him. But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,
He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, for whom they asked, but he delivered Jesus over to their will.
But they all cried out together, “Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas”— a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection started in the city and for murder.
So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
And among the rebels in prison, who had committed murder in the insurrection, there was a man called Barabbas.
Then he released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, delivered him to be crucified.
And they had then a notorious prisoner called Barabbas.
