so they said to one another, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to see whose it shall be.” This was to fulfill the Scripture which says, “They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.” So the soldiers did these things,
they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.
After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), “I thirst.”
For these things took place that the Scripture might be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken.” And again another Scripture says, “They will look on him whom they have pierced.”
For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the prophets, which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him.
so that the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: “Lord, who has believed what he heard from us, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” Therefore they could not believe. For again Isaiah said,
If he called them gods to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be broken—
But he does not so intend, and his heart does not so think; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off nations not a few;
