And this was why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath.
Again they sought to arrest him, but he escaped from their hands.
And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” And he said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.
Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
Some of the people of Jerusalem therefore said, “Is not this the man whom they seek to kill?
Has not Moses given you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why do you seek to kill me?” The crowd answered, “You have a demon! Who is seeking to kill you?”
Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in the place.
But they were filled with fury and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus.
The Pharisees went out and immediately held counsel with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.
Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And the man stretched it out, and it was restored, healthy like the other.
