So for the second time they called the man who had been blind and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.”
Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And there was a division among them.
Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, give glory to the Lord God of Israel and give praise to him. And tell me now what you have done; do not hide it from me.”
When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, “Crucify him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no guilt in him.”
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,
They answered him, “If this man were not doing evil, we would not have delivered him over to you.”
They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God.
I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me,
Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.
Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?
that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
And when they saw it, they all grumbled, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”
And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.”
Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”
And with him they crucified two robbers, one on his right and one on his left.
Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at his word: “Your brothers who hate you and cast you out for my name's sake have said, ‘Let the Lord be glorified, that we may see your joy’; but it is they who shall be put to shame.
Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows to the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
So you must make images of your tumors and images of your mice that ravage the land, and give glory to the God of Israel. Perhaps he will lighten his hand from off you and your gods and your land. Why should you harden your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? After he had dealt severely with them, did they not send the people away, and they departed? Now then, take and prepare a new cart and two milk cows on which there has never come a yoke, and yoke the cows to the cart, but take their calves home, away from them. And take the ark of the Lord and place it on the cart and put in a box at its side the figures of gold, which you are returning to him as a guilt offering. Then send it off and let it go its way and watch. If it goes up on the way to its own land, to Beth-shemesh, then it is he who has done us this great harm, but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that struck us; it happened to us by coincidence.”
