But God said to Jonah, “Do you do well to be angry for the plant?” And he said, “Yes, I do well to be angry, angry enough to die.”

You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be forsaken for you, or the rock be removed out of its place?
Surely vexation kills the fool, and jealousy slays the simple.
And when she pressed him hard with her words day after day, and urged him, his soul was vexed to death.
but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell. The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.” Cain spoke to Abel his brother. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him. Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know; am I my brother's keeper?”
And in those days people will seek death and will not find it. They will long to die, but death will flee from them.
For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.
Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.”
