Now therefore, go by night, you and the people who are with you, and set an ambush in the field.
“Their feet are swift to shed blood;
For they cannot sleep unless they have done wrong; they are robbed of sleep unless they have made someone stumble.
If they say, “Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood; let us ambush the innocent without reason; like Sheol let us swallow them alive, and whole, like those who go down to the pit; we shall find all precious goods, we shall fill our houses with plunder; throw in your lot among us; we will all have one purse”— my son, do not walk in the way with them; hold back your foot from their paths,
He plots trouble while on his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not reject evil.
The murderer rises before it is light, that he may kill the poor and needy, and in the night he is like a thief. The eye of the adulterer also waits for the twilight, saying, ‘No eye will see me’; and he veils his face. In the dark they dig through houses; by day they shut themselves up; they do not know the light. For deep darkness is morning to all of them; for they are friends with the terrors of deep darkness.
