And they put him in custody, till the will of the Lord should be clear to them.
And Moses said to his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to inquire of God; when they have a dispute, they come to me and I decide between one person and another, and I make them know the statutes of God and his laws.”
And Moses commanded the people of Israel according to the word of the Lord, saying, “The tribe of the people of Joseph is right. This is what the Lord commands concerning the daughters of Zelophehad: ‘Let them marry whom they think best, only they shall marry within the clan of the tribe of their father.
Moses brought their case before the Lord.
They put him in custody, because it had not been made clear what should be done to him.
If you do this, God will direct you, you will be able to endure, and all this people also will go to their place in peace.”
