I will make my dwelling among you, and my soul shall not abhor you.
And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.
For the Lord has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place: “This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
I will dwell among the people of Israel and will be their God.
In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.
Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage;
His abode has been established in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion.
And you shall not walk in the customs of the nation that I am driving out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I detested them.
I will make a covenant of peace with them. It shall be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will set them in their land and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in their midst forevermore. My dwelling place shall be with them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord who sanctifies Israel, when my sanctuary is in their midst forevermore.”
“But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you; how much less this house that I have built!
I have indeed built you an exalted house, a place for you to dwell in forever.”
But now, if the land of your possession is unclean, pass over into the Lord's land where the Lord's tabernacle stands, and take for yourselves a possession among us. Only do not rebel against the Lord or make us as rebels by building for yourselves an altar other than the altar of the Lord our God.
The Lord has scorned his altar, disowned his sanctuary; he has delivered into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they raised a clamor in the house of the Lord as on the day of festival.
Do not spurn us, for your name's sake; do not dishonor your glorious throne; remember and do not break your covenant with us.
“The Lord saw it and spurned them, because of the provocation of his sons and his daughters.
In one month I destroyed the three shepherds. But I became impatient with them, and they also detested me.
but he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loves. He built his sanctuary like the high heavens, like the earth, which he has founded forever.
When God heard, he was full of wrath, and he utterly rejected Israel.
