And they began discussing it among themselves, saying, “We brought no bread.”
But Peter said, “By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”
An argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest.
So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what this rising from the dead might mean.
And they began discussing with one another the fact that they had no bread. And Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember?
And he said, “Are you also still without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled? But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person.
