For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day. But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man. They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot—they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building,
But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap.
Then the Lord will appear over them, and his arrow will go forth like lightning; the Lord God will sound the trumpet and will march forth in the whirlwinds of the south.
They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”
You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.
And the Lord will cause his majestic voice to be heard and the descending blow of his arm to be seen, in furious anger and a flame of devouring fire, with a cloudburst and storm and hailstones.
Under the whole heaven he lets it go, and his lightning to the corners of the earth.
and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”
Can you send forth lightnings, that they may go and say to you, ‘Here we are’?
As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”
