Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you!” And all the disciples said the same.
That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear.
Peter said to him, “Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”
And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile,
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,
Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.
Jesus answered, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am to drink?” They said to him, “We are able.” He said to them, “You will drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.” And when the ten heard it, they were indignant at the two brothers.
One's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.
Blessed is the one who fears the Lord always, but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity.
All the people answered together and said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do.” And Moses reported the words of the people to the Lord.
