Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did.
A mixed multitude also went up with them, and very much livestock, both flocks and herds.
But they had a wanton craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the desert;
Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”
They tested God in their heart by demanding the food they craved. They spoke against God, saying, “Can God spread a table in the wilderness? He struck the rock so that water gushed out and streams overflowed. Can he also give bread or provide meat for his people?”
As soon as the people heard the law, they separated from Israel all those of foreign descent.
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.
Now an Israelite woman's son, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the people of Israel. And the Israelite woman's son and a man of Israel fought in the camp, and the Israelite woman's son blasphemed the Name, and cursed. Then they brought him to Moses. His mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.
