and God met Balaam. And Balaam said to him, “I have arranged the seven altars and I have offered on each altar a bull and a ram.”
And the Lord met Balaam and put a word in his mouth and said, “Return to Balak, and thus shall you speak.”
not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’
Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith.
They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God.
saying, ‘These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.’
‘Why have we fasted, and you see it not? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?’ Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure, and oppress all your workers. Behold, you fast only to quarrel and to fight and to hit with a wicked fist. Fasting like yours this day will not make your voice to be heard on high.
And Balaam said to Balak, “Build for me here seven altars, and prepare for me here seven bulls and seven rams.”
And God came to Balaam at night and said to him, “If the men have come to call you, rise, go with them; but only do what I tell you.”
And God came to Balaam and said, “Who are these men with you?”
