I am the more eager to send him, therefore, that you may rejoice at seeing him again, and that I may be less anxious.
So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.
As I remember your tears, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy.
for he has been longing for you all and has been distressed because you heard that he was ill. Indeed he was ill, near to death. But God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
And I wrote as I did, so that when I came I might not suffer pain from those who should have made me rejoice, for I felt sure of all of you, that my joy would be the joy of you all.
being sorrowful most of all because of the word he had spoken, that they would not see his face again. And they accompanied him to the ship.
Then Joseph prepared his chariot and went up to meet Israel his father in Goshen. He presented himself to him and fell on his neck and wept on his neck a good while. Israel said to Joseph, “Now let me die, since I have seen your face and know that you are still alive.”
But when they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said to them, and when he saw the wagons that Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of their father Jacob revived. And Israel said, “It is enough; Joseph my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.”
that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.
And Israel said to Joseph, “I never expected to see your face; and behold, God has let me see your offspring also.”
