Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.
There is severe discipline for him who forsakes the way; whoever hates reproof will die.
Whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse, and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury. Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you.
Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts.
Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment.
and you say, “How I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof! I did not listen to the voice of my teachers or incline my ear to my instructors.
The stupid man cannot know; the fool cannot understand this:
Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you.
and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.
“And now, O sons, listen to me: blessed are those who keep my ways.
for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you,
The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master's crib, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.”
Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works.
