An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones.
A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot.
An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life. She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands. She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar.
The wisest of women builds her house, but folly with her own hands tears it down.
Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man nor man of woman;
For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man.
A continual dripping on a rainy day and a quarrelsome wife are alike; to restrain her is to restrain the wind or to grasp oil in one's right hand.
It is better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and fretful woman.
It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a quarrelsome wife.
A foolish son is ruin to his father, and a wife's quarreling is a continual dripping of rain. House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.
I hear, and my body trembles; my lips quiver at the sound; rottenness enters into my bones; my legs tremble beneath me. Yet I will quietly wait for the day of trouble to come upon people who invade us.
