discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you,
Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you.
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you.
If the iron is blunt, and one does not sharpen the edge, he must use more strength, but wisdom helps one to succeed.
When you walk, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk with you. For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life, to preserve you from the evil woman, from the smooth tongue of the adulteress.
But there was found in it a poor, wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that poor man. But I say that wisdom is better than might, though the poor man's wisdom is despised and his words are not heard. The words of the wise heard in quiet are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.
How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
