There is gold and abundance of costly stones, but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
Like a gold ring or an ornament of gold is a wise reprover to a listening ear.
for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.
Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools.
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
Besides being wise, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge, weighing and studying and arranging many proverbs with great care. The Preacher sought to find words of delight, and uprightly he wrote words of truth. The words of the wise are like goads, and like nails firmly fixed are the collected sayings; they are given by one Shepherd.
The wise of heart is called discerning, and sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness.
The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; the heart of the wicked is of little worth. The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of sense.
She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
“But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? Man does not know its worth, and it is not found in the land of the living. The deep says, ‘It is not in me,’ and the sea says, ‘It is not with me.’ It cannot be bought for gold, and silver cannot be weighed as its price. It cannot be valued in the gold of Ophir, in precious onyx or sapphire.
To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is!
