Lie not in wait as a wicked man against the dwelling of the righteous; do no violence to his home;
but their plot became known to Saul. They were watching the gates day and night in order to kill him,
But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter. I did not know it was against me they devised schemes, saying, “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name be remembered no more.”
My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.
The arrogant have hidden a trap for me, and with cords they have spread a net; beside the way they have set snares for me. Selah
Now come down, O king, according to all your heart's desire to come down, and our part shall be to surrender him into the king's hand.” And Saul said, “May you be blessed by the Lord, for you have had compassion on me. Go, make yet more sure. Know and see the place where his foot is, and who has seen him there, for it is told me that he is very cunning. See therefore and take note of all the lurking places where he hides, and come back to me with sure information. Then I will go with you. And if he is in the land, I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.”
asking as a favor against Paul that he summon him to Jerusalem—because they were planning an ambush to kill him on the way.
Now the son of Paul's sister heard of their ambush, so he went and entered the barracks and told Paul.
and plotted together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.
Do not move the ancient landmark that your fathers have set.
If they say, “Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood; let us ambush the innocent without reason;
For behold, they lie in wait for my life; fierce men stir up strife against me. For no transgression or sin of mine, O Lord,
They stir up strife, they lurk; they watch my steps, as they have waited for my life.
The wicked watches for the righteous and seeks to put him to death.
Then the king said to Doeg, “You turn and strike the priests.” And Doeg the Edomite turned and struck down the priests, and he killed on that day eighty-five persons who wore the linen ephod. And Nob, the city of the priests, he put to the sword; both man and woman, child and infant, ox, donkey and sheep, he put to the sword.
As they went up the hill to the city, they met young women coming out to draw water and said to them, “Is the seer here?”
He sits in ambush in the villages; in hiding places he murders the innocent. His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless; he lurks in ambush like a lion in his thicket; he lurks that he may seize the poor; he seizes the poor when he draws him into his net. The helpless are crushed, sink down, and fall by his might.
