With much seductive speech she persuades him; with her smooth talk she compels him.
For the lips of a forbidden woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil,
to keep you from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words.
One day Elisha went on to Shunem, where a wealthy woman lived, who urged him to eat some food. So whenever he passed that way, he would turn in there to eat food.
but they urged him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now far spent.” So he went in to stay with them.
Everyone utters lies to his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.
For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died;
to preserve you from the evil woman, from the smooth tongue of the adulteress.
And she said to him, “How can you say, ‘I love you,’ when your heart is not with me? You have mocked me these three times, and you have not told me where your great strength lies.” And when she pressed him hard with her words day after day, and urged him, his soul was vexed to death. And he told her all his heart, and said to her, “A razor has never come upon my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother's womb. If my head is shaved, then my strength will leave me, and I shall become weak and be like any other man.”
And after she was baptized, and her household as well, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us.
And the master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.
He refused and said, “I will not eat.” But his servants, together with the woman, urged him, and he listened to their words. So he arose from the earth and sat on the bed.
