“Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man, but afterward his mouth will be full of gravel.
Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly. In the end it bites like a serpent and stings like an adder.
But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.
This is the way of an adulteress: she eats and wipes her mouth and says, “I have done no wrong.”
For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret.
But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. For apart from the law, sin lies dead.
Come, let us take our fill of love till morning; let us delight ourselves with love. For my husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey; he took a bag of money with him; at full moon he will come home.”
And when he came to the hill, he took them from their hand and put them in the house, and he sent the men away, and they departed. Therefore the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you and to your descendants forever.” So he went out from his presence a leper, like snow.
So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.
