Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress! Incline your ear to me; answer me speedily in the day when I call!
Hide not your face from your servant, for I am in distress; make haste to answer me.
I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope in him.
Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation!
When you hide your face, they are dismayed; when you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.
To the choirmaster. Of David, for the memorial offering. Make haste, O God, to deliver me! O Lord, make haste to help me!
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Answer me quickly, O Lord! My spirit fails! Hide not your face from me, lest I be like those who go down to the pit.
Let my prayer come before you; incline your ear to my cry! For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near to Sheol. I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I am a man who has no strength, like one set loose among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, like those whom you remember no more, for they are cut off from your hand. You have put me in the depths of the pit, in the regions dark and deep.
In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me, and save me!
So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church. Now when Herod was about to bring him out, on that very night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, “Get up quickly.” And the chains fell off his hands. And the angel said to him, “Dress yourself and put on your sandals.” And he did so. And he said to him, “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me.” And he went out and followed him. He did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me! O Lord, make haste to help me!
Incline your ear to me; rescue me speedily! Be a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me!
But you, O Lord, do not be far off! O you my help, come quickly to my aid!
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
When he is quiet, who can condemn? When he hides his face, who can behold him, whether it be a nation or a man?—
Why do you not pardon my transgression and take away my iniquity? For now I shall lie in the earth; you will seek me, but I shall not be.”
Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.
