But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel.
They forgot his works and the wonders that he had shown them.
And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?”
And the whole congregation of the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness,
Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go. Oh that you had paid attention to my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea;
because you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof,
for they had rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the counsel of the Most High.
Therefore the people quarreled with Moses and said, “Give us water to drink.” And Moses said to them, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the Lord?”
would have none of my counsel and despised all my reproof,
And he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah, because of the quarreling of the people of Israel, and because they tested the Lord by saying, “Is the Lord among us or not?”
You will bring them in and plant them on your own mountain, the place, O Lord, which you have made for your abode, the sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have established.
