Guard me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from violent men, who have planned to trip up my feet.
Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man.
My steps have held fast to your paths; my feet have not slipped.
To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Maskil of David. Give ear to my prayer, O God, and hide not yourself from my plea for mercy! Attend to me, and answer me; I am restless in my complaint and I moan, because of the noise of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked. For they drop trouble upon me, and in anger they bear a grudge against me.
The wicked watches for the righteous and seeks to put him to death. The Lord will not abandon him to his power or let him be condemned when he is brought to trial. Wait for the Lord and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off. I have seen a wicked, ruthless man, spreading himself like a green laurel tree. But he passed away, and behold, he was no more; though I sought him, he could not be found.
Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings, from the wicked who do me violence, my deadly enemies who surround me.
It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the righteous of justice.
