The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.
Bow your heavens, O Lord, and come down! Touch the mountains so that they smoke! Flash forth the lightning and scatter them; send out your arrows and rout them!
The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind; your lightnings lighted up the world; the earth trembled and shook.
And fire came out from before the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.
Can you send forth lightnings, that they may go and say to you, ‘Here we are’?
Under the whole heaven he lets it go, and his lightning to the corners of the earth.
But Elijah answered the captain of fifty, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” Then fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty. Again the king sent to him another captain of fifty men with his fifty. And he answered and said to him, “O man of God, this is the king's order, ‘Come down quickly!’” But Elijah answered them, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” Then the fire of God came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.
Then Moses stretched out his staff toward heaven, and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down to the earth. And the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt.
And fire came out from the Lord and consumed the 250 men offering the incense.
