For strangers have risen against me; ruthless men seek my life; they do not set God before themselves. Selah
O God, insolent men have risen up against me; a band of ruthless men seeks my life, and they do not set you before them.
To the choirmaster. Of David, the servant of the Lord. Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes.
And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me.
Have those who work evil no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon God?
For behold, they lie in wait for my life; fierce men stir up strife against me. For no transgression or sin of mine, O Lord, for no fault of mine, they run and make ready. Awake, come to meet me, and see! You, Lord God of hosts, are God of Israel. Rouse yourself to punish all the nations; spare none of those who treacherously plot evil. Selah
Let those be put to shame and disappointed altogether who seek to snatch away my life; let those be turned back and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt!
For dogs encompass me; a company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet—
I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. The governor again said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas.” Pilate said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said, “Let him be crucified!” And he said, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Let him be crucified!”
I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother's sons.
“He has put my brothers far from me, and those who knew me are wholly estranged from me. My relatives have failed me, my close friends have forgotten me. The guests in my house and my maidservants count me as a stranger; I have become a foreigner in their eyes.
