Truly you set them in slippery places; you make them fall to ruin.
Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of the Lord pursuing them!
Therefore their way shall be to them like slippery paths in the darkness, into which they shall be driven and fall, for I will bring disaster upon them in the year of their punishment, declares the Lord.
Vengeance is mine, and recompense, for the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and their doom comes swiftly.’
He will bring back on them their iniquity and wipe them out for their wickedness; the Lord our God will wipe them out.
But you, O God, will cast them down into the pit of destruction; men of blood and treachery shall not live out half their days. But I will trust in you.
They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,
that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever;
I have seen a wicked, ruthless man, spreading himself like a green laurel tree. But he passed away, and behold, he was no more; though I sought him, he could not be found. Mark the blameless and behold the upright, for there is a future for the man of peace. But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed; the future of the wicked shall be cut off.
But the wicked will perish; the enemies of the Lord are like the glory of the pastures; they vanish—like smoke they vanish away.
though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.
