A Song. A Psalm of Asaph. O God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God!
Of David. To you, O Lord, I call; my rock, be not deaf to me, lest, if you be silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit.
You have seen, O Lord; be not silent! O Lord, be not far from me!
Our God comes; he does not keep silence; before him is a devouring fire, around him a mighty tempest.
For a long time I have held my peace; I have kept still and restrained myself; now I will cry out like a woman in labor; I will gasp and pant.
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. Be not silent, O God of my praise! For wicked and deceitful mouths are opened against me, speaking against me with lying tongues.
Awake! Why are you sleeping, O Lord? Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever!
