“The Lord saw it and spurned them, because of the provocation of his sons and his daughters.
Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage;
Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the Lord has spoken: “Children have I reared and brought up, but they have rebelled against me.
For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you.
So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he gave them over to plunderers, who plundered them. And he sold them into the hand of their surrounding enemies, so that they could no longer withstand their enemies.
So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
In one month I destroyed the three shepherds. But I became impatient with them, and they also detested me.
“You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities. “Do two walk together, unless they have agreed to meet?
He has laid waste his booth like a garden, laid in ruins his meeting place; the Lord has made Zion forget festival and Sabbath, and in his fierce indignation has spurned king and priest.
“As for the offerings that you offered in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your officials, and the people of the land, did not the Lord remember them? Did it not come into his mind? The Lord could no longer bear your evil deeds and the abominations that you committed. Therefore your land has become a desolation and a waste and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is this day. It is because you made offerings and because you sinned against the Lord and did not obey the voice of the Lord or walk in his law and in his statutes and in his testimonies that this disaster has happened to you, as at this day.”
What right has my beloved in my house, when she has done many vile deeds? Can even sacrificial flesh avert your doom? Can you then exult?
I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince.”
When God heard, he was full of wrath, and he utterly rejected Israel.
For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the Lord.
I will make my dwelling among you, and my soul shall not abhor you.
