Isaiah 38:10-14

I said, In the middle of my days I must depart; I am consigned to the gates of Sheol for the rest of my years. I said, I shall not see the Lord, the Lord in the land of the living; I shall look on man no more among the inhabitants of the world. My dwelling is plucked up and removed from me like a shepherd's tent; like a weaver I have rolled up my life; he cuts me off from the loom; from day to night you bring me to an end; I calmed myself until morning; like a lion he breaks all my bones; from day to night you bring me to an end. Like a swallow or a crane I chirp; I moan like a dove. My eyes are weary with looking upward. O Lord, I am oppressed; be my pledge of safety!

Psalm 88:3-5

For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near to Sheol. I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I am a man who has no strength, like one set loose among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, like those whom you remember no more, for they are cut off from your hand.

Isaiah 57:16

For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint before me, and the breath of life that I made.

Job 42:16

And after this Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, four generations.

Job 19:17

My breath is strange to my wife, and I am a stench to the children of my own mother.

Job 17:13-14

If I hope for Sheol as my house, if I make my bed in darkness, if I say to the pit, ‘You are my father,’ and to the worm, ‘My mother,’ or ‘My sister,’

Job 6:11

What is my strength, that I should wait? And what is my end, that I should be patient?
