Oh, that I had one to hear me! (Here is my signature! Let the Almighty answer me!) Oh, that I had the indictment written by my adversary!
“Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth. I have spoken once, and I will not answer; twice, but I will proceed no further.”
withdraw your hand far from me, and let not dread of you terrify me. Then call, and I will answer; or let me speak, and you reply to me.
Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: “Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me.
How much less when you say that you do not see him, that the case is before him, and you are waiting for him!
Oh, that I knew where I might find him, that I might come even to his seat! I would lay my case before him and fill my mouth with arguments. I would know what he would answer me and understand what he would say to me. Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No; he would pay attention to me. There an upright man could argue with him, and I would be acquitted forever by my judge.
“Oh that my words were written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book! Oh that with an iron pen and lead they were engraved in the rock forever!
Behold, I cry out, ‘Violence!’ but I am not answered; I call for help, but there is no justice.
“Lay down a pledge for me with you; who is there who will put up security for me?
Why do you hide your face and count me as your enemy?
But I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to argue my case with God.
Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison.
Of David. Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity, and I have trusted in the Lord without wavering.
Behold, he finds occasions against me, he counts me as his enemy, he puts my feet in the stocks and watches all my paths.’
Behold, I am toward God as you are; I too was pinched off from a piece of clay.
I go about darkened, but not by the sun; I stand up in the assembly and cry for help.
“Let my enemy be as the wicked, and let him who rises up against me be as the unrighteous.
He has kindled his wrath against me and counts me as his adversary.
