The hope of the righteous brings joy, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
Such are the paths of all who forget God; the hope of the godless shall perish.
When the wicked dies, his hope will perish, and the expectation of wealth perishes too.
You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
The wicked is overthrown through his evildoing, but the righteous finds refuge in his death.
The wicked man sees it and is angry; he gnashes his teeth and melts away; the desire of the wicked will perish!
But the eyes of the wicked will fail; all way of escape will be lost to them, and their hope is to breathe their last.”
and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’
Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.
