A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred blows into a fool.
Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.
Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.
By mere words a servant is not disciplined, for though he understands, he will not respond.

Strike a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; reprove a man of understanding, and he will gain knowledge.
A fool despises his father's instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is prudent.
A wise son hears his father's instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.
Let a righteous man strike me—it is a kindness; let him rebuke me—it is oil for my head; let my head not refuse it. Yet my prayer is continually against their evil deeds.
